The All India Chess Federation (AICF) (Hindi: अखिल भारतीय शतरंज महासंघ) is central administrative body for the game of chess in India. Founded in 1951, the federation is affiliated to Fédération Internationale des Échecs, (FIDE), the world body for chess. The AICF has been able to produce champions like Vishwanathan Anand, Manuel Aaron, Dibyendu Barua and Parimarjan Negi, in Indian Chess, who have effectively made a mark in the world forum. The organization is also in charge of managing Women's Chess in India.[1] Its current Headquarter is in Chennai.

AICF has come under sustained criticism for bureaucratic incompetence. In October 2009, woman chess GM Humpy Koneru (world no. 2) accused the AICF secretary DV Sundar of preventing her from participating in the 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin.[2][3] The same year the AICF was accused of arbitrarily banning grandmaster G N Gopal[4] for not playing in a match (the ban was subsequently revoked).
In 2010, the AICF president N Srinivasan, was criticized for not supporting Vishwanathan Anand in World Chess Championship 2010, by not trying to host the match in India.[5]
The current president is the owner of India Cements.[6]
Till date the federation has more than 30 affiliated state associations, 16 special members and 23 recognized academies as its constituents.[1] Here is a list of them:[1][7]
AICF has also played host to a number of major world events in India. Some of them are:[1]
